About me
Creating positive mathematical journeys
With a Mathematics degree from Royal Holloway, I offer a uniquely different approach to learning mathematics. I'm not a traditional maths teacher, but someone who understands that mathematical confidence grows from positive experiences, incremental progress, and a supportive environment. My focus is on building both mathematical ability and self-belief, one step at a time.

My philosophy: the power of positive mathematics
Success in mathematics isn’t built overnight - it’s an incremental journey that combines understanding, confidence, and a positive mindset. Each small success builds upon the last, creating a foundation of self-belief that extends far beyond numbers and equations. I believe every student has the potential to succeed in mathematics when they’re supported in the right way, at their own pace.

The Positive Maths approach
My approach centers on creating an environment where:
- Every small step forward is recognised and celebrated
- Mistakes are viewed as valuable learning opportunities
- Progress is measured not just in grades, but in growing confidence
- Mathematical anxiety transforms into mathematical capability
- Students discover their own ability to succeed
Supporting success at every stage
While I primarily focus on building long-term mathematical confidence, I understand that sometimes students need more intensive support closer to exams. Whether working together over months or providing focused exam preparation in the final weeks before GCSEs, my approach remains the same - creating a positive, supportive environment where understanding can grow and confidence can build. Even in shorter timeframes, we can make significant progress by breaking down essential topics, building exam confidence, and developing effective strategies for managing exam pressure.
Understanding individual needs
Every student’s journey is unique. I have extensive experience working with:
- Students rebuilding confidence after difficult mathematical experiences
- Young people managing exam stress and anxiety
- Students with ASD and neurodivergent learning patterns
- Different learning styles and approaches to understanding
Creating lasting change
The transformation I see goes far beyond mathematics. Parents regularly tell me their children are:
- Approaching all learning with newfound confidence
- Taking ownership of their educational journey
- Developing resilience in facing challenges
- Carrying their positive mindset into other aspects of life

A partnership in learning
Your child’s success matters deeply to me. Together, we’ll:
- Create a safe, supportive space for learning
- Build confidence through consistent, positive progress
- Address challenges with patience and understanding
- Transform mathematical anxiety into mathematical achievement
Each step forward builds upon the last, creating not just mathematical understanding, but lasting confidence that extends into all areas of life. This is the power of positive mathematics – where every small success contributes to a bigger transformation.
