Success stories – transforming mathematical journeys
Every student’s story is unique, but they all share one thing in common – a journey from mathematical uncertainty to confidence and success. Here are some of their stories.

From panic to performance
Phoebe got to Easter before her GCSEs and started to panic in Maths. Although in the top set, she had a mental block in Maths exams and never scored higher than a 5, and in her mock just managed a 4. Claire took time understanding her needs and how she worked. She quickly established that Phoebe could do this and just needed confidence and to slow down when reading the questions.”
“My child became unrecognisable from the one who was previously panicking and spiralling in a subject she loved but struggled to exam in. Claire gave her immense confidence to believe in herself. Phoebe enjoyed her hours of tuition and really looked forward to them. The result? Phoebe achieved a grade 7 in her GCSE and has changed her A-levels to include maths – something we would never have thought would happen.”

Building confidence beyond mathematics
Claire has been so much more than a maths tutor. She has been the first person to really listen, coach and support our daughter since she started her ASD diagnosis. She was able to navigate the most effective way for her to learn and I wish we had come to her earlier. Sometimes the enormity of navigating the future for a teenager with autism feels incredibly daunting, however Claire has been able to make that challenge a lot more manageable for both us as parents and for our daughter.”

A marathon not a sprint
Amelie has always been fearful of maths, struggling with previous criticism of her ability, comprehension and anxiety around the subject. Achieving a 2 in her mocks at school. Claire put Amelie at ease, making her appreciate that maths is a cumulative subject and that she was running a ‘marathon not a sprint’.”
“Claire was able to encourage and support Amelie to do 20 minutes a day of planned work alongside her superb tutorship. When Amelie passed her GCSE maths this summer, we celebrated with Claire, who was the first person that Amelie phoned and screamed down the phone at, whooping with delight.”

Creating lasting change
After the very first lesson with Claire, my daughter could not stop talking about their hour together. Claire consistently demonstrates a high level of dedication, professionalism, expertise, enthusiasm, and warmth when tutoring her students. Claire has made a significant impact on the academic progress of our daughter in maths. Claire not only tutored her in maths, she also helped her gain confidence in herself which led to a more positive approach on what lies beyond the school years.”

Turning anxiety into achievement – even under pressure
Coming to Claire just 10 days before a maths resit, with the added challenge of dyslexia and the emotional weight of it being a 'second chance', might seem like an impossible situation. But even in this short time, Claire's approach made all the difference.”
“She understood not just the mathematical challenges, but the story and anxiety that comes with a resit. Together, we transformed that narrative from one of past struggles into one of new possibilities...”
